Let us hope the Scots have not forgotten the meaning so held dearly when they vote this next day on their independence. JCH

James, I don't know the history of this person "Wallace" or how he relates to Scotland--but any poem that begins with Drawn and quartered he was, my goodness, gets my attention. I take it Wallace was a patriot who died for freedom (maybe of speech?). Anyway, to sum up the poem, I love the grisly beginning (I do) and I love the form you've chosen, the way you have a pillar with FREEDOM at its base and 'wings' or 'shelves' coming out. The eye is held captive on this one. Thanks for posting.

I grew up in Wallaceburg, Ontario. Name after the very man you speak of. He was the very embodiment of the Scotish cause. I wonder how many Scots will remember this when they vote. I believe his death did change how the English viewed the Scots, since his last breath was to speak the very desire of Scotland " Freedom. Your poem nails it
