You Were Not Just A Name I heard the words then stood with a breathless stare. There was no time no space or air. My beating heart stilled and I felt like I wasn’t there. As time moved on I was forced to live knowing you were gone. I pushed myself everyday to keep up with having to live a new way. The empty place I found myself in was just starting out and it’s had no real end. There is nothing I can do since then not even prayers can bring you back to me again. Believe me when I say I think about you every day and life for me will continue on this way. You were mine for so many years I still need more time and to shed more tears. When Heaven opens its gates for me I pray you will be the first I’ll see. Until then I’ll keep you close as can be for not even death can steal away this much love from me. |
Additional Notes:
Written for a dear friend of mine, Mrs. Ginger Grant - in memory of "Scott" along with others who have lost a special someone in their lives.

One of the best lost love poems I have read in a long time. Not overly flowery or sweet. Just a beautiful statement of the facts. WE MISS THEM.
