Blood Moon

in hollows it hides. dark crevices - shadows, all those forbidden places  where truth beclouds itself.     its violent sweetness an implacable lure - a disguise   unsighted in silence and veiled in counterfeit light.       underworlds of storms that swell a heart with numbness and vacuity.   shuddery songs of suffering  chiming their red-stained words from mouths of madness.     a stark-naked summons  of mourning.     I travel between eternities trying to shed this burning skin of lies and loss; but     I am sentenced to solitary confinement within the exiled weightlessness  of salvation;     fossilized     in cold isolation.  .

Hello Mary, This is quite an in-depth poem of darkness and madness. Who is there to know between the difference? Hardly none, because this is your own personal punishment? Or it could be something that was written from the outside? This is a good mystery poem, covered by darkness...not really letting the reader know what you are truly speaking of. It's not a dino fossil, is it? *smile* I also wrote a poem called, "Blood Moon," that was written at an earlier time, and (apparently) had nothing to do with this poem - no clue about the other one. They (both of them) are quite different. Good luck with your subjective poetry. Donna

Girl, this one was a challenge. Very good description of this blood moon. Made me think of vampires tho. I have read this many, many times for understanding and still question the ending (probably all me). I would make a change in thought there if it were mine. See what you think. I travel between eternities trying to shed this burning skin of lies and loss; fossilized in cold isolation. I am sentenced to solitary confinement within the exiled weightlessness of Salvation. Happy Wishes Wanda

Mary, sorry it took me so long to get here and review this one...life and health issues get in the way. This is ominous, perhaps a warning for all who wish to look deep within for it is truly all there in all of us--if we dare to look. Your word choices are perfection for your subject matter and help to move your reader smoothly through your lines. Bravo for another finely penned composition from your accomplished pen. Lora
