A Reason to Live

The ground is dry and cracked. My lips though red are limp and curled. The sun is brutal but I have been good. I have stood my ground. I have spread myself as far as I could  in search for nourishment. My body is dull in color and dry. I have stood my ground. I am not bowed. I am erect. I say, "look I am here and the cool night will come and refresh me." I was given life and I am not going to  deny that. A desert rose doesn't survive for no reason.
