The Purpose of Life I often ponder to myself what the purpose of life really is, and then I tell myself... It can't be to gain wealth and riches, for this is a sin, and thus wrong. It can't be to be the best looking or be the most attractive, for beauty comes only from within. It can't be to be the smartest or most knowledgeable, for no letter grade or test score can measure how wise a person really is. It can't be to be the most respected or honored, for humbleness would be difficult to achieve. It can't be to find the person you are meant to be with, thus marry, for this is predetermined by God, for God created us and it is only he that knows who is right for us. It can't be to be the most popular or well liked for people would be treated better than others, and thus we should all be liked and we should treat others in the same way in which we would want to be treated. It can't be to go out and party, get drunk, and have all the fun that you can, for this is only intended by fools. It can't be to please everybody all the time, for this could cause a person to be trapped by sin. It can't be to be good all the time, for we all sin and it is by our sins that we realize we are imperfect. It can't be to attain the most friends for only a true friend accepts you for anyway that you are, and thus it is hard to find a true friend. After telling myself these things, I realized that everything we do here on earth is useless, because in the end all our dreams, hopes, aspirations, goals, accomplishments, and things will be gone. So I realized the purpose of life is.... To take notice of the little things in life that go unseen each day, such as the natural beauty in our individual differences that make the world go around. So be not who you think you are, but who you think God created you to be, even if you are the only fish in the sea that swims against the stream. Above all else, be content with the way you are, whether it be what you possess, what you look like, how intelligent you are, how respected you are, what your marital status is, how popular you are, how much fun you have, what other people think of you, how good you are, or how many friends you have. Also, continue to believe, believing is having faith and having faith is believing in the things you can't see. Have faith each and everyday, for who know what tomorrow will bring. By doing this you will be humbled, and by being humbled, God will take care to hold your hand and guide you the rest of the way. |
