Destination

You can take your fancy high roads,   so concrete, straight and long. I will take the slow, long road   hearing wildlife play its song. You can stay on your speeding freeway   racing all those crazy fools. I'll meander along the streambed   along ebbs, eddies, tides and pools. You can stay in your fast lane   across that hot asphalt. I'll stroll the forest pathway   where scenic beauty is always sought. You can keep your Rodeo Drive,   and keep also, your Fifth Avenue. I'll just take this shady lane,   shadowed under my own sky so blue. You go travel through your own world.   I'll keep hiking my trail, so fine. Though you may reach your destination,   but surely, not before I reach mine.
