I'M BEGINNING TO KNOW

I'm beginning to believe in me. I'm beginning to see All the great things in me, That two out of three Other people can see. I'm beginning to believe in me. I'm beginning to like what I see. I'm beginning to see That perhaps I can be, What exactly is me; And how I must be. I'm beginning to like what I see. I'm beginning to think that I'm good. From the food that I eat, To the way that I treat Other people I meet. I am very sweet. I'm beginning to think that I'm good. I'm beginning to think that I'm smart. By the ways that I act, Do jobs matter of fact, Showing wisdom and tact In these ways that I act. I'm beginning to think that I'm smart. I'm beginning to like that I feel. I'm beginning to see That the feelings in me, Such as sorrow or glee, Are peculiar to me. That these feelings I feel, Are all very real. I'm beginning to like that I feel. I know now that I like what is me. I'm a generous soul, With a fine, worthy goal. Always giving my all, Risking failure or fall. I know now that I like what is me.

Additional Notes:
I was not an easy person for me to like. It took time and some insight. Please forgive the extra lines in the next to last stanza. That is the way the poem came out.
