Denise Ann... Denise Ann... As I crochet I spin love into every stitch of your baby blanket. Made of cotton candy thread in pastel colors of pink and blue, a touch of white here and there, with silvery moonbeams running throughout, like tiny diamonds sparkling everywhere. This, to be my gift to you upon your arrival in June. You turned out to be softer than any cotton candy ever spun. You are as soft as the love I feel as they place you in my arms for the first time. Holding you gently, afraid I'll squeeze you, being so careful not to let you slip from my protective arms. You look like a tiny Dresden doll with cloud soft skin, rosebud lips, cooing echo's of angels. You begin to stretch as if awakening from a nine month nap. As I whisper "Thank you, God, for your tiny miracle." you opened your eyes. "I love you", I said losing myself in their sky-blue mist. 6-11-2000 by Donna Saulsman Friedrichs Written for our first born, Denise Ann, born June 6, 1959 She is now 41 and still precious. |
